Extreme activities for the adventurer are available all over Honduras. The Cangrejal River winding down from the Pico Bonito National Park in La Ceiba offers class IV and V exciting white water rafting. There are many spots in the country for some of the best zip lining above the verdant canopies of La Ceiba, Copán, Roatán and the Pulhapanzak waterfalls. There is also a chance at horseback riding in the countryside and some of the best diving courses in the Caribbean. Honduras offers travelers plenty of opportunities to get the adrenaline pumping.
Hike along a small river up to a beautiful waterfall, which drops into a natural pool that is perfect for swimming. Climbing a little bit higher, you will get a spectacular view of the Omoa Bay with the Merendon Mountain Range around you.
Located on the eastern end of the bay of Tela, only 12 km from the town, this unique area takes its name from the small mountain that dominates the area and comes out into the Caribbean: Izopo Mountain. The exuberant vegetation of this area, which is irrigated by the Plátano and Hicaque Rivers, is home to a large variety of wildlife, including tropical birds such as parrots and toucans, monkeys, alligators and turtles.
